Potty training resistance is an integral part of your toddler’s development and growing up process. The ideal time for potty training is around 18 to 24 months. At this point he / she will be able to understand and respond to whatever you say.
But even though potty training can be easy it can also be very difficult especially; if your toddler is not potty ready, having potty regression or resistance. This can be quite a troubling for you. If your toddler throws tantrums, refuse outright to follow your orders, or make mistakes (intentional or unintentional). In any case it makes your job really difficult. But what can you do – regarding such potty training resistance?? This is exactly what I will tell you in this article. How to deal with potty training resistance and get you toddler to learn potty training?
Okay now to begin: Be Patient.
Remember you are an adult so please don’t get frustrated and act irresponsibly. Act kindly and gently. Don’t lose your calm and poise with your toddler make a mistakes or an accident occurs. Your kid might not be very co-operative but despite this, don’t scold him. This will not do any good rather it will make things worse for you that is not what you want to do…at all… Being gentle can simply handle this and most of the time is the solution. You should talk to your toddler instead of scolding him / her. Make them see the reason why they have to do this.
If there is further potty training resistance then you should probably stop for sometime and start a fresh and new approach without being frustrated with you child. If the potty training resistance still continues then he / she might be facing some problems which you should take care of first before staring potty training again. It may be a health problem too so it must not be ignored at any cost.
After this even if you still face resistance then I suggest you stop for some time and then try when the child is least likely to rebel. Whatever you do, do not force your toddler. It won’t help at all. Remember the toddlers have their own will and scolding or forcing them will only make them stick to their will, in short more problems for you.
Don’t reprimand or scold your child if he is not able to do it or if he is resisting. Ignore it for some time because if you force then as I said above the child will have his / her own will. Don’t punish him / her. If a mistake as been made then talk to your toddler – help him / her change and address the mistake to make sure that it is corrected the next time.
The tips listed above can help you get your toddler on fast track to potty training despite his / her resistance. Follow them and don’t forget to do so with a cool head and gently after all he / she is your child and he / she has to come out of potty training resistance!
