Potty training toddlers can be a wonderful experience for both the parent & child … You should always make potty training fun by approaching it at a slow pace, and your toddler should be encouraged to start potty training only when they are ready. By your toddler showing readiness signs this can help them to maintain their interest in potty training.

Note: Always make sure that your toddler is ready to be trained before you begin to potty train to your toddler.

On an average potty training your toddler should began around the ages of about 2 to 2 ½ years. Just remember that every child is different and learn at different stages and your toddler dependents on your teachings.

Moms your patience plays a very important role in potty training toddler.

  • Spend time with your toddler during potty training.
  • Avoid distractions or interruptions while potty training.
  • Never punish or even pressure your toddler.

Reading basic books and watching potty training toddler’s videos are helpful for any parent who is looking to successfully potty train their toddler.

Before starting purchase potty training pants and chairs once your toddler is ready to start potty training. If it helps bring him/her with you when you are purchasing these items – it may make them happy…Oh, let them choose their pants by themselves this is a very good tip for encouraging your toddler.

  • Cotton (a.k.a cloth underpants) pants will help your child understand wetness which will help in the potty training toddler’s process.
  • Buy a potty chair you should make sure that it is a sturdy chair. Your child should be able to touch his feet to the floor.

Once your toddler has became acquainted with the potty chair you should remember to encourage him or her to use it more & more. Encouragement will also help him or her build self esteem and independence.

Sometimes potty training toddlers is not going your way…many times it is because your toddler has became reluctant (or regressed) to potty training – you need to build his your toddlers’ interest by reading to them, talking to them, giving them a book to read, or telling them a story while they are sitting on the potty.

This still might not work…what to do? Simply back off.

More than often this is a sign to you from your toddler – they are trying to imply that they are not ready for potty training.

One more important thing… timing it plays a very important role in potty training. If you have been observing your child’s bowel movements – this will be easier for you if need to carry him/her to the potty. You are teaching you toddler that this is the place to empty their little bowels.
