My 3 year old son only potty’s if someone makes him…?

For 3 months now my son has been in underwear only. This was his choice. He will go potty in any toilet you take him to. He will not say when he has to go, and at times just says “I don’t want to go potty!”. We will have accident free days but that is because we got him on the potty before he goes in his pants. Not once in three months has he went to the potty on his own and went because he had to go. I am extremely frustrated, and I am loosing my patience. I have tried candy reward, sticker charts, prize box, cheering, hugs, hi-fives, books, games, remind him again and again, his friends at school have moved into other classes because they potty trained. We have used that go tell him you could be with them if you’d potty like a big boy. Yet nothing!!! Only goes in the potty if you tell him “let’s go try”. My husband and I are at our wits end! Anyine been here before?? Please help!!

I’m in the same situation with my daughter right now, but I have her in pull ups because I can’t afford a rug doctor every day to clean our apartment carpet. She’ll go if I take her in there. I even bought her a Leapster that she is only aloud to play in the bathroom as a bribe, but she’ll only ask to go to the bathroom maybe once or twice a week and it’s because she wants to play the game, not because she wants to potty. She’ll have to sit on the toilet for around a half hour before she’ll end up pottying in it. I’m thinking that they just aren’t ready yet.
