Toilet training toddlers can be the biggest challenge that a parent can face – when training their toddler to use the potty. Many times there are book, products, and resources that can be helpful but that can never take away the fact that it is a demanding task for parents and toddlers.
This should not be a horrifying period in life so here are some helpful tips that can help parents in toilet training there toddlers.
• Potty Training Readiness – being ready for potty training. Your toddler will show signs of readiness – different toddlers have different starting time. Most parents are happy when they are able to get their child potty trained as soon as possible….and many toddlers are not ready when their parent is. So when to start toilet training is not when parents want to start but it is up to your toddler.
• Potty Training Regression – not ready for toilet training. Sometimes your toddler do not want to learn to toilet train or does not take to the idea to kindly – PATIENCE…is a virtue - so there is nothing wrong with taking a break from potty training and resuming later when your toddler is ready. Regression is a sign of your toddler struggling – so please do not rush!! It may be best wait and to try again in a few weeks or months.
• Accidents during Potty Training Toddlers – just can’t quite make it. When your toddler experience an accident DO NOT punish, belittle, or make your toddler feel ashamed. Also accidents should not be awarded – this will cause a problem towards potty training toddlers and do not pose to be a great way to teaching your toddler potty training.
• Potty Training Pull-ups or Diapers – may cause confusion. Using pull-ups or other potty training pants that may absorb like diapers may prohibit your toddler from learning potty training quickly. As you may know that pull-ups or diapers pull the wetness from the body and yet your toddler will not feel the wetness and thus cannot grasp the concept. Pull-ups or diapers should only be worn when your toddler is going to bed for the night or when out on a shopping trip that may require using pull-ups.
PLEASE…do not allow your toddler to walk around in potty training pants this will only confuse them later in the potty training process.
• Cloth Training Pants or Regular Underwear – feeling wet is the best. As you may know from mentioned above this allows your toddler to feel wetness will help them learn better and they will not want to feel like that and may make an effort to going to the potty.
• Potty Training Toddlers Naked? Several parents would not think of considering their toddler to parade around the house naked….this may be easier for your toddler. And this can be a good potty training method.
• Encouragement…toilet training is hard for your toddler so make them feel good about toilet training. Overcome the stress of toilet training your toddler and do not put too much pressure on yourself or your toddler.can make potty training more difficult especially when parents look forward to dumping the diapers or pull-ups.
REMEMBER: Approach potty training only when your toddler is ready to start and make sure that you have the following:
