Mistakes …When Toilet Training Toddlers?

by Admin on December 15, 2009

Most of the time as a parent we do not look at it from our child’s point of view all we want to do is hurry up and toilet / potty train them so, we do not have to change diapers.

Thinking that is normal well for me it was…because diapers got more expensive with every purchase from the store. And if that was not bad I made sure that my baby was wearing the best absorbent “Pampers” – they worked well for me (my opinion). And personally I listened to others tell me that my baby was ready and I tried to early he regressed and I found out after the seciond attempt that I was the one making the mistakes when toilet training toddlers...not my baby.

Yes, we all know that when it comes down to toilet training it is an important phase for toddlers to go through, and it is difficult for parents.
Sometimes it might be that your toddler is not open to be potty trained, dislike the transition from diapers to underwear, or they might cry and throw tantrums – remember that it takes time for your toddler to adjust to the new habit.

When toilet training toddlers one of the steps towards your toddler’s independence and also contributes to their success and socializing.

Most of the time moms (parents) generally tend to make common mistakes during toilet training and sure enough these mistakes can be avoided very easily….put in extra effort. Basically show patience and give your toddler enough time to become comfortable with this new adjustment.

Don’t Feel Bad….you are not the only one that has reoccurring mistakes they are common all over the world – especially if like me and raising your first child.
One of the most common mistakes is to expect too much from your toddler too soon…everyone has an  ideal age that a child is suppose to be toilet trained HOWEVER, this ideal age can be different – your toddler is different from other children.

PLEASE DO NOT POTTY TRAIN YOUR TODDLER UNTIL THEIR READY
….your toddler may not be ready to toilet trained and may feel intimidated by the change. Again…give adequate time for your toddler to understand that going to the potty is natural and that it is part of growing up.

Make toilet training enjoyable for them by having rewards like: candy, stickers, and trips to the park, etc. Do not force your toddler into toilet / potty training.
